On La Palma we saw EQ's reach a new high yesterday & , so far, today seems to be following suit?

Any reports of the Volcano 'winding down' seem a little wide of the mark right now?

In Iceland it takes 2 to 3 weeks for activity at the crust/mantle boundary to hit the surface so this recent 'uptick' might be the surface manifestation of those first M5.0's we saw 2 weeks back?

Suffice to say most of the EQ's are being placed in the mid chamber (10 to 14km?) but the noise ceiling makes it hard to get a fix on EQ's closer to the surface and so , common practice dictates, they get shunted into that 'mid-chamber'?

With another M5.0 a day or so ago from down at the crust/mantle boundary things do not look like calming down any time soon! (IMHO?)

Back to La Palma, the jet is 500m high tonight, blow torch effect.

Jeez looks like a 4 at least.

Quite troubling indeed, video footage and the like seem to be limited, though I did see one video where it blocked out the sun.

La Palma volcano appears to have quietened a lot, just a sulky, smouldering, smokey cone at the moment.

Looks like the side of the mountain collapsed at Semeru.

No fly zone in place

The bridge that has been destroyed...

Potentially looking at VEI 4 eruption whether this be low end VEI 4 or more  significantly towards mid-high VEI 4, await further reports.Either way if confirmed as VEI 4, only the second VEI 4 of the year, I think?

If that is only a VEI4 I dread to think what Tambora would have looked like

Not a sight you want too see bearing down on you. Etna may erupt tonight as well.

Absolute devastation where the pyroclastic mud flows passed through. Up to 13 found dead now, but many villages still cut off.

Thought that looked like a pyroclastic flow, on the first post on this eruption. Never good to hear. This is not going to be nice news. Figures crossed for the people in those cut off villages.

Although the eruption in Iceland is over for now there is some uplift going on.

Either the equipment has gone barmy or there's' something big brewing in Iceland. A few days ago this was posted at the web site

Earthquakes still going on but at lesser rate than yesterday. So far no volcanic tremor so an eruption Iceland isn't on the cards quite yet. If the tremors carry on like they have I would say only a matter of time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the La Palma eruption has a an other little flare up before going to sleep again.
