Etna having the 6th Paroxsym of 2012 at the moment, looks to be early in the eruption going off the tremor charts. The low clouds making this pretty atmospheric though.

Satellites continue to provide a look at the ash and gas clouds being emitted from Mexico's Popocatepetl Volcano. NASA has animated imagery from NOAA's GOES-13 satellite to provide a week long look at the volcano's activity.

Popo now rising from her slumber. Phreatomagmatic summit explosions for now, but a sign the magma is beginning to rise and I would say by the end of today we'll see what Popo has in store. http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/images/popo1.jpg

A little later than expected (by a couple of days lol) but the Phreatomagmatic eruptions have now carved a channel allowing the denser, hotter, magma to surface. Pop ejecting Pyroclastic flow and ash heights up to 27,000ft thus far. http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/images/popo1.jpg

Yes, I am watching the webcam too. I was beginning to think that it would go back to sleep without a major show.

http://www.reuters.com/video/2012/05/17/mexican-volcano-spews-ash-and-gas?videoId=235149338&videoChannel=74

Mexico's famed Popocatepetl volcano continued to show signs of activity on Wednesday, spewing ash on nearby towns and villages. Residents of the nearny town of Xalizintla have had to wear protective face masks in recent days to avoid inhaling the ash. The 5,483 metre volcano lies just 64 kilometres southeast of Mexico City. The volcano, whose name means "Smoking Mountain" in the Nahuatl Indian language, has spat out mile high clouds of ash and smoke several times this year. Its last major eruption took place in 2000.

Two bangs for the price off one and plenty of lightening as well. I just love how you see traffic going along at the bottom of the web cam. Dunno how they don't crash as it must be distracting.

Have just come back from a week in Iceland. Fascinating country if you like the natural environment, glaciers, volcanos, and the ocean. Lots of talk their about Katla and expecting something to happen "soon" whatever that means.

For those interested their are daily reports on seismic activity in Iceland at www.vedur.is

Eye she's puffing merrily. It's also time Etna erupted again unless the cycle has finished.

Indeed, Popo has been active! I visit this webcam every day and often treated with some impressive cumulunimbus which is a bonus! http://www.cenapred.unam.mx/popo/UltimaImagenVolcanI.html
