Not one drop of rain here! It's amazing how the showers have missed us here, we normally would do well out of this situation.

The precipitation seems to be pulling gradually more further and further away to the West, although with still enough energy around for it to intensify a little in places. While that's happening, the precipitation appears to be building up to the East and South-East, so a possible chance for the rain to come back here. smile.gif

We have lightening and thunder here...about one every...1 or 2 minutes at a guess, no rain as yet wind picking up.

My total rainfall for the whole of April was 18.1mm. I have already passed that just 9 minutes into the 2nd day of May, and it didnt start raining here till 17.40 Saturday evening !

I think it was a good thing the thundery activity happened mostly during the evening, rather than the afternoon.

Getting flooded here have not seen rain like this for a couple of years , no thunder yet though.

Must admit, looking at the radar, it still looks very unsettled in places with the precipitation holding on quite strongly.

Anybody watching this? http://www.severestu...rielson&uid=140

Lots of tornado damage near Memphis.

That feed is no longer available, but this one seems to be getting exciting.

Having peeked at the radar, there is quite a cluster of showers spread out all over the place with some good energy injected into these. They certainly appearing to be moving down in a Southerly direction. smile.gif

More showers than i expected today and convection is rather decent albeit tops limited somewhat. Very low risk of thunder activity today though. An sferic occured in Yorkshire earlier though. Hail is very possible today however.

Must confess, I would love to see to hail in those showers with the cool and cold temperatures outside. :yahoo:

Had about 4 or 5 showers pass through today with all of them dropping hail. Most of it very small insignificant hail. The last shower to pass about 2 minutes ago, although only the edge dropped the biggest hail which was about 2mm or 3mm in size, not big i know, but makes a lovely sound on the conservatory clap.gif

Edit: seems the heftier showers slightly to the west of here passing through northampton etc.

Looks like you guys have hit the treasure chest with the showers. Been having one or two moderate rain showers, which looked a touch sleety at times. smile.gif

Heavy rain and hail shower now falling, which was a bit of a surprise considering it looked as though it was jsut about going to miss to the East on the NetWeather radar. yahoo.gif

A day of light showers with the odd bit of hail mixed in. Sadly the forecast lively showers for this afternoon don't look like turning up but still an interesting day.

High pressure is too close by and the air track over the North Sea is too long to enable much in the way of lively shower activity. Still, considering that I thought a mainly cloudy day with just light showers was likely, to see a fair amount of sun, and some reports of hail/graupel in circulation, was a surprise. I'm surprised nobody has reported sleet or snow even on high ground, it surely can't be far off being cold enough.

A northerly or north-westerly sourced from high latitudes and a Scandinavian Low would be more conducive to lively showers, especially this late in the season. There is a chance of that pattern arising in about a week's time.
