UK Outlook for Friday 29 Apr 2011 to Sunday 8 May 2011:

Southern and central regions will tend to be often rather cloudy and unsettled with showers or outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, through next weekend and during the early part of the following week. Generally drier and brighter to the north and west, though some showers may develop over parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland later. Often rather windy, especially in southern, eastern and central parts. Whilst temperatures will be near or just above average it will tend to feel quite chilly when conditions are rather cloudy and windy, especially in North Sea coastal areas. The rest of the first week of May looks likely to continue in a similar vein, unsettled and windier to the south and brighter to the north, temperatures largely near or just above average.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 3 May 2011 to Thursday 12 May 2011:

Continuing dry across many northern, central and eastern parts at first, with the best of the sunshine further west. Generally cloudier in the south, with outbreaks of showery rain, this gradually spreading up the western side of the country. Towards the end of the first week, a more unsettled theme looks set to become established across the country for a time, as this showery, possibly thundery rain extends northeastwards. Beyond this, a return to dry and more settled conditions looks fairly likely for many eastern areas, with any rain most probable in western parts. Winds will be fairly brisk at first, but any stronger winds should become more restricted to the west with time. Temperatures near average at first, but becoming rather warm in many areas later.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 4 May 2011 to Friday 13 May 2011:

On Wednesday, there will still be a lot of fine weather for most, with near normal temperatures and a risk of a grass frost across northern parts. However, warmer and more unsettled conditions across the southwest look likely to spread more generally across the United Kingdom. This will bring welcome rain to many parts, some of which may be heavy with a chance of thunder, and may be accompanied by brisk winds. However there are still likely to be some drier and brighter interludes, particularly towards the southeast. Into the second week, indications are for the unsettled conditions across the UK to persist, with further outbreaks of rain although temperatures may trend back towards average in places.

UK Outlook for Monday 9 May 2011 to Wednesday 18 May 2011:

Much of this period is going to be dominated by low pressure close to the United Kingdom. This means that there are likely to be some showers in all areas, perhaps longer spells of rain occasionally, which could be heavy and thundery at times; but also some drier and brighter interludes, during which it will feel pleasantly warm, especially early in the period. For a time in the second half of the period, winds could start to blow from the east or northeast bringing lower temperatures, particularly to eastern parts, with temperatures in most places likely to fall back towards normal; and with the risk of showers or rain continuing, it could even feel quite chilly at times.

Showers that start the period in northern UK should spread southwards before the first weekend, bringing a risk of hail and thunder between spells of sunshine. Winds should be generally light or moderate, but with brisk westerlies developing in the north. UK Outlook for Sunday 15 May 2011 to Tuesday 24 May 2011:

Sunshine and showers for most areas during the early part of next week. Showers will be heavy, and locally thundery, at times, particularly inland during afternoons. The heaviest showers will probably be over eastern UK, whilst the greatest chance of drier weather will be to the southwest. Conditions will often be on the breezy side. Daytime temperatures generally a little below normal, and there will be a touch of ground frost in rural areas overnight. The unsettled theme then continues through much of the rest of next week, with a chance of some more persistent rain for some regions at times. UK Outlook for Monday 16 May 2011 to Wednesday 25 May 2011:

Much of next week looks set to be quite unsettled with showers and longer periods of rain moving across many parts of the country, with the risk that some of these will be heavy, particularly in the northwest, although nowhere should be considered immune. It will also feel quite cool, temperatures around or a little below average for May, with a risk of overnight ground frost in some sheltered rural areas. From next weekend onwards, there are signs of slightly more settled conditions developing particularly in southern and eastern areas, with more in the way of longer spells of sunshine here, and temperatures everywhere should start to recover, with some warm days likely in the south and east.

The weather will be quite unsettled for much of the United Kingdom for most of next week. There will be some drier and brighter spells but all areas are likely to see some rain at times. The heaviest and most frequent rain will probably affect northwestern parts of the UK. It will also be breezy at times, and possibly quite windy for a time in exposed northern areas. The unsettled weather looks likely to continue into the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of May, although there are some indications of southern parts of the UK becoming drier after this. Temperatures will be generally at or slightly below May averages at first but there are signs of a rise in temperatures in all but the far northwest from Saturday.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 18 May 2011 to Friday 27 May 2011:

Showers look likely to continue on Wednesday and Thursday, although only small rainfall amounts are likely in the south and east of the UK. From Friday and into the weekend there are signs of drier, brighter conditions becoming established across central and eastern areas, although still with a low risk of showers here. However, generally any showers are likely to become more confined to the north and west. The following week looks likely to continue this trend to drier, more settled conditions across the UK. Temperatures will be average or slightly below average at first but should rise above average in many parts of the UK, and perhaps becoming well above average in some places around the weekend of the 21st/22nd May.

Through the first weekend and into the following week conditions are expected to become mainly fine and settled, with an upward trend in temperatures, and with many areas likely to see some warm sunshine. It looks to be mainly dry during this period, although isolated heavy showers are possible from time to time.
