Surprised that a thread hasn't been started on this. November this time next week.

Last November was very mild, joint 8th mildest but this fact was totally eclipsed by the complete washout it was. One of the top 10 wettest months ever recorded for England and Wales.

I'm going for 7.5

6.9C 71-00 average

I'm going for 6.2 slightly below.

Interesting that, here in Durham, we've been above average in the last 9 years!

I'm going for a very much average 6.7C.

Also, this retains the fact that I always guess the CET more than 5 days early!

EDIT: I'll keep my 6.7C guess.

The 1961-90 average is 6.5C

Provisionally, 5.9. A mild start to the month, but becoming colder as we progress into the second week. Could be a notable cold spell from the north - with the risk of snow in places - at some point in the second half of the month.

I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning. As for my guess, I think I'll give it a few days.

I can see a similar month to September and October with a warmer start and cooler end, so 7.4C, 0.5C above average.

I'm going to wait till the end of the month

Many forecasts for Nov have been suggesting a cold month - my inclination is that it will be a month which gets progressively colder and colder similiar to 2005 and 2008 but that is all I am saying for now. God forbid we see a repeat of the disasterous conditions of last November. Mild in Nov normally means copious rain..

It has been a while since we saw a really cold November. It is also a month along with many others that has showed warming in the 1990s and 2000s. Most recent Novembers have been mild overall, the last below average November was 2005, and before that 1998. 1996 was a cold one too, and 1993 was notably cold.
