Sunshine and showers for the second day running.

Lancaster had sunshine for most of the morning, then shower clouds built up at around 12 noon, and there were hefty showers and sunny spells until about 3pm.

I've noticed that the centre of the low has been devoid of shower activity, with the showers transferring around the flanks of the low. Over the last few hours the low has been centred over Morecambe Bay, with showers transferring northwards to the east of Lancaster, westwards to the north, eastwards to the south and southwards to the west- you can see the circulation from here!

One side-effect of this is that we've had virtually no wind!

But now the low seems to have retreated further west, as showers are advancing from the S/SW from a line of cumulonimbus clouds.

It was lovely when I woke up this morning though....at 5.30am. My eldest daughter came in asking if it was morning yet, and I said no, but she said it was sunny, so it must be morning......she had a point. Damn the axial tilt of our planet.
