Is it true that the first reference to Atlantis comes from one of Plato's stories?

Is it true that the first reference to Atlantis comes from one of Plato's stories?

Probably, it is thought (by Greeks, of which Plato was of couse) Atlantis was supposedly situated at the chain of islands around Santorini, in the Cyclades. Because of the way the islands are situated, some of the Volcanic land is underneath the sea, that means a real life Atlantis is not impossible, however Geogologically unlikely.

Then again I'm pretty sure many countries have tried to claim Atlantis too.

Even though it is just a story.

Nessie could be a plesiosaur, this dinosaur lived millions of years ago - but are they extinct?

post-11361-0-13395200-1307759895_thumb.j - you can see how Nessie fits the description

post-11361-0-44904000-1307760175_thumb.j - artist impression/model - images 1 and 2

post-11361-0-07158600-1307760194_thumb.j - this image was said to be a hoax.

Are dinosaurs still alive? - post-11361-0-55487900-1307760375_thumb.j

There are of course other types of sea dinosaur other than the plesiosaur - post-11361-0-16079700-1307760642_thumb.j -

but this does not look friendly? is Nessie not meant to be friendly?

plesiosaur facts: They lived from the early Jurassic to the end of the Cretaceous period. That is from about 220 million years to about 65 million years ago. Plesiosaurs, like dinosaurs(don't confuse me please!!:unknw: ), lived in the Mesozoic era. Nobody is sure why the plesiosaurs went extinct

how long was a dinosaurs life span - dinosaur facts - quote"Part of the reason researchers are so interested in dinosaur life spans is that modern-day reptiles are some of the longest-lived animals on the planet: giant tortoises can live over 150 years....

-

one shouldn't rush to conclude that because some of the relatives and descendants of dinosaurs regularly hit the century mark, dinosaurs must have had long life spans as well. Part of the reason a giant tortoise can live so long is that it has an extremely slow metabolism....."

When thinking about the life span of a dino, this creates the thought that the time period Nessie has been seen comes into a large time scale-this makes it possible the same one is being seen, maybe more than one. when we think it can't be possible to have a dino in the lake..why not? if an egg was trapped in the area before the lake formed- (Loch Ness is about 10,000 years old and was formed at the end of the last Great Ice Age during which The Great Glen had been filled with a huge glacier) then these hatching once temperatures rose when the ice melted, then i would think its possible for a stable environment to have kept the family going!

so what do you think? - i think its possible!

edit-after writing this post i know know a plesiosaur is not a dinosaur..it actually called-link:whistling: ok just call it a dino for now!!

-

my instant theory-parts of the world remain yet to be discovered, areas of deep sea, forests and jungles, deserts, and the depths of great lakes yet to be seen.

conclusion-creatures that where thought to be extinct may be alive

-creatures that are unknown yet to be discovered in the places not discovered....

The 'Surgeon's picture' is not 'said' to be hoax...The hoaxers admitted it...
