That was a fantastic backbuilding system between 17.30-18.45, if you put BA12/BA13 in the NW radar postcode zoom

you can see how it backbuilt rapidly. No overhead thunder in Warminster but heard some rumbles in the distance and

observed the disturbed, turbulent sky with outflowing low cloud before the backbuilding caused it to downpour here.

heres a pic around 18.20, the faint hill in the background in the centre has the Westbury White Horse

Heavy showers have started here in the last hour or so - quite surprising as the GFS has our CAPE levels decreasing here this evening! Looks to be quite a few over South Wales moving slowly eastwards at the moment.

I will be tempted to chase tomorrow but I'm concerned that the main area for storms is moving further and further SE. Any further and it'll be too far away for me to get to (petrol isn't as cheap as it used to be).

36+ hours out and this looks a little more encouraging than the rest of this week! (well for the South anyway)

Lots and lots of rain just about to hit Kent by the looks of the radar

Meteox

No flood warnings out as far as I know but then again it does actually look to be weakening in intensity as it heads north.

Is it me or is that big clear hole heading for the SE?? Perhaps not as much rain as I thought??

I may shell out the extra petrol to get down south if things continue to look good for tomorrow. I'll await tomorrows 6z and the experts forecasts on here to make my decision.

Best bet for storms tomorrow.......i'd say a swathe across from south east Wales towards The Wash- quite a drive that.

But worth it if I get to see something and get some good footage. Would be hugely disappointing if it were a bust though.

Have been down in Exeter a lot recently and missed a few storms in Westbury by the sound of it. Just seen the two so far this year, still better than last year though...

In agreement with others about tomorrow being a good day.

Widespread CAPE combined with decent lift from WAA/DCVA should lead a to decent scattering of heavy showers/thunderstorms. EL temps look up to -40 potentially. Lack of Deep layer shear suggests limited severe potential although 15 knots of LLS could produce a few funnels.

Probably better off in Wiltshire tomorrow but will be in Exeter, might see something here.

Going to be down to the wire again I suspect. Don't make a move until you've checked the radar and detectors!
