Well I'm in BSE and there's no sign of storms here, sky is slate grey certainly not looking like any convective stuff is about to happen.

It was looking really good about half an hour ago, though seems to have collapsed :pardon:

Thats often the case, it seems the intensity just falls away the further into EA the PPN gets

Small cells popping up ahead of the 2nd trough that's still affecting Devon/W.Somerset. If you put BA12 into the NW

postcode zoom then play from 14>30 you can see a few that developed very quickly. We had a 5 min downpour from quite

mid-high level cloud, thankfully I'd just brought the washing in lol!

Now surrounded by angry, disturbed cloud without a breath of wind.

Heard a large boom to my south about 20/30 mins ago, an aircraft was flying over at the time unless it broke the sound barrier or exploded mid air then im pretty sure that it was thunder haha

If you have NW Radar, zoom in on S Lincolnshire, run the animation for an hour and you can clearly see the rotation: there is even a faint hook in there at the resolution of the map! I wonder what conditions are like on the ground - they can't be good with that much rain.

Also in the last half an hour, new heavy cells have appeared off the Yorks' Coast and have rapidly intensified and are now lit up electrically. Are they going to link up with the ongoing storms out in the N Sea?

Sporadic pea sized hailstones from what appeared to be a gust front, but my view to where it's coming from

isn't that good - there was quite an increase in wind as they fell though and now raining heavily.

A distinct line of cells breaking out from near BA12 and to the SSE into S.Wiltshire/Hampshire, those of you

to the East may be in business if it continues to develop.

The next three hours could be interesting across C/S England, along with the continuing flooding risk between the Wash and the Humber.

CAPE levels should be on the increase in the next three hours with fairly lengthy sunny spells and heating as a result.

Some of the precip on the leading edge of the trough and indeed entering the higher CAPE region is beginning to intensify nicely, though not much electricity at the moment.

The trough however is beginning to take the form of an area of low pressure, with distinct precip bands denoting warm/cold front. The MetO have this feature on their pressure chart, however a fair bit further south than is currently tracking.

Another cell has exploded in Wiltshire, at a guess not far from you in Devizes. It's gone from nothing to a rate of 250mm

per hour in less than half an hour. Staggering!!

It's situations like this when the NW postcode zoom comes into its own!!

Looks as if a CZ is now forming south of the Wash with a line of increasingly intense rainfall.
