Looks as if a CZ is now forming south of the Wash with a line of increasingly intense rainfall.

Yes the NMM suggested this. If I was up that way I would certainly want to go and take a look at the Kings Lynn storm in the hope of a funnel cloud.

2 very black cells converging to my west, trouble is I'm roughly in the middle so not expecting much precip as I'm in the weak zone :wallbash:

Impressive looking cell between Downham Market and Kings Lynn.

Any one have a visual on this storm?

Closest I can find is:

Wow judging by raintoday those cells in the South West have exploded over the last half an hour, not sure if they will keep intensifying, but if they do things could get interesting for some people.

Cheers, this still looks very impressive on the latest update.

Things should be getting interesting for you as the cells are growing rapidly around your area as well!

Edit I see that you are too far south of Peterborough.

Yes unfortunately, I can see the Peterborough cell out the window and it looks great, but nothing seems to want to form to my south west lol.

If I was old enough to drive I would go and chase but unfortuntely not :/

Edit: That Kings Lynn cell looks huge on the radar, could be some serious rainfall under that as doesnt seem to be actually moving just getting bigger and bigger, unfortunately seems there are no members from KL though.

That's a pity. Hopefully the convergence zone will move further south for you.

Oh for UK Doppler radar!

Some "weather" on its way for us here in the islands. Could get interesting in the next hour or so if those cells to our SW keep on developing :yahoo:

Was that it for the SE corner of the UK for today? :cray:

Really not sure to be honest...if the MetO is correct then yes I would say so.

However, CAPE levels are still increasing with fairly decent levels of sunshine coinciding - there is a belt of showers which have erupted around Hants westwards in the past hour or so, steadily moving east or north east.

I am interested to see how the trough/frontal feature running along the SW/S at the moment will pan out.

But as it stands, I'm not overly hopeful if I am honest...still though, I'm not a meteorologist either so feel free to disregard me completely lol

EDIT - pokey little cell moving south of Medway at the moment, heading towards the Isle of Sheppey.

Looks like its dying out before it reaches my area as usual! Areas south of bristol seem to be getting a fair bit. I just got dark cloud but nothing else.

I think you've got the main band approaching Rich, it looks to have some intense rain within it.

Before that band something is developing again, the earlier cells have moved away and we've had half hour of warm

sunshine and just like earlier some cells are beginning to pop up over Somerset and are heading ENE towards Wiltshire.

I'm wondering if they, too, will intensify as they feed on the evaporated moisture from the earlier rain.

Clearing to blue skies in Sussex, not too disappointed as the maps didn't indicate this was a strong area for activity for today.

Incredibly dark here, rain falling and cloud/scud moving very fast indeed. This one needs watching!
