Fine mild and dry overnight. Warm with sunny spells through the morning to observation. There were further sunny spells through the morning, though cloud increased eventually blotting out the sun by around noon. There was a short spell of light rain around mid afternoon, but only enough to leave a trace. Feeling warm. The evening saw a few showery outbreaks of light rain.

There were some showers early this morning -- a rather heavy one woke me up at 6:30 am. Other than that, it's been lovely and sunny so far today, with bright blue skies. Feeling quite pleasant at 19 C, with a lovely brisk breeze.

[Thundery wintry showers]

Sunshine and showers at Cleadon, currently 15.1C, got as high as 18.4C earlier. It was a cloudy morning following a spell of persistent rain overnight but the sun got out and cumulonimbus clouds towered upwards. A torrential storm of rain and half-melted hail at 1pm, which gave 4mm in 8 minutes and produced a few rumbles of thunder, and even a brief funnel cloud to the north/north-west.

Ended up with 60 mms of rain today plus 2 mms before midnight. The wettest 24 hours for a long time here I would think. Now drying up quickly in sunshine at 15.4c.

Edit. Sunshine didn't last long. Skies now black with thunder rumbling away to the South.
