Woah rain~! 20mm since the early hours the garden will be happy. Now if the sun can come out there might be enough moisture for a lil storm maybe : P

Raining here with moderate to heavy bursts; certainly the garden is getting a good soaking :)

Typically when we didnt want the Meto to be right over the GFS and NMM it is and therefore a cloudy rainy day for us all with any thundery potential really restricted to the SW but cloud is an issue. Maybe late evening may see parts of Wales and the SW Midlands see something but other than that another duff day.

Sky was dark to my south then suddenly its gotten brighter and its overcast. The current movement of the low pressure system seems to be keeping stuff too far south for my liking. That mass of rain South of Bristol looks like its going to hit, but looking at how its dragging the stuff over Devon back down south behind it...I think it'll just miss us....then there doesn't seem to be much else happenning unknw.gif

Hopefully i'm wrong and showers start to develop along the predicted trough?

I'm inclined to agree Luke, it's been raining for about 8 hours now here, steady frontal/trough rainfall, but a ray of hope as skies are showing signs of clearing to my west

Well after the small thunderstorm over Dorset the sun is out with bright blue sky that will hopefully get things going this afternoon.

Wasn't expecting much today so even a couple of rumbles before the afternoon was nice.

Some sferics has now been detected in SE Wales from the Icelandic site. Dark clouds towards the West and some really bubbly clouds towards North Cardiff.

That thing is so slow moving but the clouds are starting to look more interesting now as you say. Im recording 16.4c with a dewpoint of 13.8c. Humidity 86%

Can I have a link to that site please:)

Afternoon all, the heavens just opened here with torrential rain. I looked out the window and saw a brief intracloud flash but no lightning!

Hmm after watching various forecasts etc, am I right in thinking that our threat of storms isn't from the band of rain to my South, but more from showers that are predicted to develop in Wales which will then be moving SE-wards once the Low moves along further east?

Hmmm very intriguing! Wasn't expecting anything that far East today, unless you are just catching the stuff heading out into the North Sea from earlier on which I had down as a Kent Clipper at best?

Getting closer, hopefully its not going to pivot and start moving south just yet.

Need a little more northward movement.

Yeah Im on the edge of the shower/storm but still have had heavy rain and though it has so far only been 1 flash of lightning and rumble, lucky for me it was overhead! It was nice to have that again as its been so long since i heard thunder!

Had 11mm already this morning and it's still raining.

I am so disappointed with our storm season this year and it's almost at an end.

Hi Lauren, I would say we are fortunate in this country that we have a year round storm season. Some of the best ones I have seen in recent years have been in November and February. :)

Menacing looking. Hoping for better later though but good start to the afternoon.
