Just got back from walking the dogs at Brightstone forest in the middle of the Isle of Wight, got caught in a heavy shower with hail and thunder, three long rumbling claps. I am totally soaked.

Local weather on BBC this morning (so via Met Office) showed a heavy rain & flashing lightning symbols for Thursday but it wasn't actually mentioned by the presenter. My local NW forecast for Thursday - Saturday shows over 50% chance of storms but I'm not going to get excited until nearer the time coz I know only too well how things change :wallbash:

:good: Might be interesting to keep an eye on things though and see if anything really develops out of these very small possibilities.

Damn you! You've just cursed it!

No, Jane Louise does that.

I saw some Lightning off the coast in Devon last week anyway so I'm not too fussed if this week delivers or not though others may be so. :)

That's the spirit.

This week is probably going to be the last chance for Inland areas for 2011 as storms begin to become increasing confined to coasts from now on as the weather generally turns cooler however right now its still warm!

The situation towards the end of this week still moving around, but GFS this morning downgrading Saturday's convective possibilities but pulling things forward a bit:

The new HiRLAM info is really messy on Thursday morning:

The equivalent from GFS is broadly similar:

Yesss Come on storms,we need you Where are you. :D There's been talk from other sources that Thursday could be quite interesting as the cold front comes through! If you don't get your hail and thunder there's always tornadoes and heavy rain and a mixture of all sorts except snow of course on that day! :smiliz19:

Tbh i can't see anything going up around here!

Not because it never happens but because of the lack of cape and LI. In all honesty do you think that a heavy strong thunderstorm will form with 200 cape and a

fairly decent LI of 1 (im not ruling it out to be CLEAR!)

I would like to see it happen but i sadly doubt it!

I would like to add to my above comment.

The SSW of england have the BEST chance of a storm due to the higher cape and lower LI, also a little more East up to around Wiltshire. Although with more hilly land it may cause some other problems. Will like to see what happens and will watch this!
