The wind has abated slightly and backed more to the NW as the low moves into Scandinavia and the the high to the west nudges in. Prospect of many heavy showers particularly in the N and W.

Pretty nippy with a temp of 11.8C and variable cloud.

Chilly start, though with very little wind and a gorgeous orange and pink sunrise. Broken cloud around but they are dark grey and quite angry looking in some places.

Ditto to both of those comments re the sunrise, one of the most colourful possible I think :) !

All manner of cloud types this morning : Stratocumulus, small Fair Weather Cumulus, Altocumulus and Cirrus with some decent breaks allowing for sunny spells which make for a pleasant Autumn day.

The NW breeze is much lighter than yesterday, 12.7c with 74% humidity.

Warmer, calmer and less showery than yesterday this morning. It looks like I have to wait for the temperature to drop below 5C for the first time this autumn let a lone a frost.

Although sleet was reported at Altnaharra in August, I believe today and particulary tonight could have a realistic chance of seeing the snow symbol returning to the Met Office Observations as the -5C line is expected to reach the UK for the first time this autumn (albeit in Shetland). This could bring pretty chilly temperatures and maybe some snow showers to lower levels.

Interesting later on as we see the 528DAM line just over Shetland, upper air temps at around -5 to -6 and the 0 deg isotherm between 700 & 800 ft.

Has it snowed this Autumn where you are. If not, you could be in for a bit of luck with perhaps some snow tonight.

Not yet no. We normally get our first snow during the last week of October but yes its looking like theres a chance of some sleet/wet snow later tonight perhaps. DP is falling all the time, down to 3.2C now.

A pleasant sunny day after a surprisingly mild start 10C at 06:45 the overnight low yesterday evening. The wind took the edge of the temps but pleasant enough out of the wind and T shirt weather at just over 15C.

10.4c with a dew point of 3.6c. Clear, but with a slight wnw/nw breeze, and the skies to the west and northwest are distinctly clear - time to get me dad's telescope from the rubble and have a look-see.
