:o I wish I knew this site existed before I did my video forecast! :(

But it's just so fascinating how this snow event has seemingly come out of nowhere, just goes to show you should never give up hope!

12Z looks good, going for the Simon Keeling idea, weak easterly for Xmas day, not the horrid blowtorch forecasted by IB

tomorrow nights setup reminds me of the failed snowfest of 09th Feb 2009, bbc were giving lots of snow, but that was Feb, warmer month, hopefully Dec will be colder in this setup

Amended :)

Love that cheeky sleety snowflake in Cornwall there CC!

Hahaha don't worry, it's there by mistake, was meant to be a light rain symbol but couldn't delete it once I'd put it down.

Its nothing to do with the time of the season.

Anyway, the METO forecast looks about right at the moment though I would expect the system to trend further South on subsequent runs.

Most classic frontal snow events involve Atlantic systems coming up against entrenched cold air - the only time I can think of a major snowfall from a set-up that did not have said cold air was Dec 1990, when rain fell and then the cold air undercut a developing closed feature, but this is different as we just appear to be looking at a development going West to East, whereas the Dec 90 system ending up East to West.

Tomorrow will see temps of 5-6 then with cloud increasing ahead of the PPN, temps won't fall much so it will begin as rain without a doubt, then it will be a case of how much undercutting there is but then the cold air behind is not even that cold.

Depends what your looking at, if its what falls from the sky then the fact its december rather than feb makes little difference, if its what settles on the ground and stays then of course december is a far better month than feb due to the shorter days. come friday we'll be 5 days short of the shortest day of the year

bbc news weather looking good :)

BBC looking good - showed snow over the region for much longer than I expected. Special segment from midlands today as well by the looks of things.

lets hope this delivers, been a few times in last couple of years it just turned into heavy rain, I think there was one last year, Hyped up on news channels.

fingers crossed.
