A few bits of wintriness in the showers here too - the tops of the hill have a dusting of white - the snowline was about 400m first thing this morning but is now about 550m, temps rising rapidly.

Severe Weather Warning.

Issued at - 02 Jan 2012, 12:42

Valid from - 03 Jan 2012, 02:00

Valid to - 03 Jan 2012, 11:00

A spell of wet and very windy weather will affect Wales during Tuesday morning. The public should be aware of the possibility of disruption due to heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, leading to localised flooding.

Local flooding looks likely tomorrow, I expect we'll get a good 2+ inches of rain here in the valleys.

I hope you are wrong, but I fear you may be right. How wet is the ground up there, as this may effect runoff etc.

Though only a small patch of wales, im just inside/on the border of the amber warning! Glad Im not in school tomorrow so can stay indoors all day! Hope there isn't too much flooding, lucky for me I live on a slight hill so never get flooding, stay safe those who are unlucky enough though!

Colder out there today with some showers mostly of rain and hail here on low ground, looking at the radar showers will continue over the next couple of hours gradually losing any wintry component as the flow turns to the SW:

Overnight and into tomorrow we will see that strong low pressure system move in off the atlantic tracking across northern parts of the UK:

Strong south westerly winds right across Wales:

http://hw.nwstatic.c...6/24/ukwind.png

Gusts of 60mph seem likely over SW & W coastal areas of Wales.

One very important thing to point out here is the amount of rain that will fall...theres going to be allot across Wales as shown on the NAE precipitation charts below:

Yn wir, mae'n edrych yn wlyb iawn 'fory, bydd 'na lifogydd lleol bron yn sicr i chi, wrth ystyried bod y tir i gyd yn wlyb domen yn barod, a bydd unrhyw law yn llifo'n syth i mewn i'r afonydd, ar nodyn mwy positif braf yw gweld yr haul heddiw :) er yn oer.

True, it does look very wet tomorrow, there will no doubt be local flooding, almost a dead cert, because the ground is saturated already and any extra rain will flow direcly into the water courses, on a more positive note, it's nice seeing the sun today :) albeit cold.

As the day went on, the showers tended to turn less wintry here as well, there was a longer shower at around 4pm, largely rain with only a very small amount of sleet.

It looks very wet tomorrow, and the ground is now sodden after the heavy showers today, One thing to consider Re the NAE rainfall charts is that rain is for 6hrs despite updating every 3 hrs, Not wishing to minimize the risk of heavy rain tomorrow though,

Dodged the showers here today, a mostly dry and bright day. The system tonight and first thing tomorrow does get through quickly, perhaps some 6-8 hours of heavy rain, which may avert too many flooding problems.

It was nice to see the sun today, and I hope you are right about the rain pushing through very quickly and not causing too much disruption.

Really wild out this way today- a very loud night with very powerful squalls from the early hours, a bit of thunder and lightening, too, which I thought I may have dreamt, but having read Cymro's post, looks like it was real!

Pembroke wave bouy is reading 24ft- which is massive (once or twice a year occurrence)- and can hear the sea from the house, half a mile away. Will be looking for a sheltered surf later...

According to BBC, A477 at Red Roses blocked due to fallen power cables and tree...

Not had a really strong gust for an hour or so, so perhaps the worst has come through here.
