Can't see it going above freezing until tomorrow.

-3.1C here and stalled, let's keep it that way.

DP = -5.4C. Wet bulb = -3.8C.

All very conductive to good, powder snow.

Temp here has actually fallen to -3.2c now with thickening white cloud really beginning to roll in from the west right across the Cheshire plain with the Met Office latest forecast going for light-moderate snow showers as early as 12pm across Southern and Eastern areas of the region but still I dont think the fun and games will kick off widely till around 2-3pm.

The NAE predicts 6C later.. that's going to feel balmy with a westerly wind!

Powder snow from the west? It'll be the sticky and dense type.

Temp still rising here 1.8c now, dew point falling strangely @ -2.0c now.

if the wetbulb is low enough along with the right humidity and dp / temp its more than possible for it to be powder snow, but conditions are rarely perfect for powder snow, so we never really see it, though i have to admit last year we saw powder snow at points but it turned back to the stuff you described very readily

Guys im currently in work in warrington and have a drive back to ashton @16:30. IF this does hit at 2-3pm what would you rekon snow dpths might be by 16:30???

64000 dollar question, possibly 5/7CM

Yeah not buying into that.. Sleet quickly turning to snow, less than an hour later freezing rain and remaining so through the event. Not happening!

i thought it was an extremely high res model,perhaps we are being overconfident as it shows it all as now pretty much as it exits the north west.

Obv hope its wrong like.

im laughing at its output right now and last night, i just cant see what its predicting to be right and not from an imby ism either.it seems way to aggressive

NMM is one of the most high res models running at 6km resolution. Hope it's wrong on this occasion!

who said it was snowing in blackpool?

Well I'm 3 miles down the coast so unless there's a different climate in Blackpool, no its grey and dry. not hopeful for even sleet today.
