Around 4-5 inches here in Canary Wharf however it is melting off cars and the snow on ground has also thawed slightly!

bound to happen in more built up areas. The pavements have probably been gritted in Canary Wharf.

Big thaw in Guildford, not very cold outside at all, snow gone from areas that were totally covered with a few inches last night. Anyone who went to bed too early or woke up too late only have themselves to blame!

One worry, if this freezes now it will be absolutely treacherous.

amazing that Guildford is seeing a big thaw when places not that far east aren't.

Been outside and had various readings by ruler but on our driveway the average reading was between 14/15cms which is far better than Dec 10'. Temp now fractionally above freezing but only creating a very minor thaw of any snow on windows etc. Also one or two small drifts of about a foot! :good:

A few photos of the snow and lovely drifts. :D

Excellent one of the drifts by the fence - hope your Phormium survives the cold!

Seems to fit more with the continental flow http://xcweather.co.uk/FR/observations

Lille 7mph SSE for example

not sure why that happens, those are surface readings. the weather is not coming from france though- as per satellite animation

My girlfriend confirmed earlier that it was thawing, certainly a little bit on the odd side though temps are getting closer to 2C now there...

Here if there is any thawing going on, its very slight and certainly going to be a good percentage of the snow pack left, above 0C now but not enough to melt 13cms today put it that way!

Far SE seems to be picking up a true European flow, temps are a stonking -3C in some places!

The XC temperature map pretty much shows the divide, just on the wrong side it appears. Met Office doesn't have us a freezing untli Tuesday morning so hopefully there won't be an ice problem.

Just got back from playing snowballs with son in Surbiton; it seems that the good fall of snow we got last night, which sent us to bed full of high hopes at midnight and which continued until gone 2am, must have thawed early on as our roads are now slushy and we were fighting over cars to make our snowballs. Must have been around 4+ cms before thaw set in I guess. We're about half an hour north-east of Guildford up the A3 so maybe not thawing at quite such a fast rate, but definitely thawing:(

+1.9c here, probably best it stays above freezing now really, the roads are wet and slushy, so if it freezes they will be deadly!

Hi all.

Got about 5 to 6 inches here in colchester. Dogs are loving the snow and are constantly winging to go out and play.
