can't match the Sprunehorpe value but the coldest night here since 7 December 2010, Min was -8.4C, beautiful blue sky and many trees and bushes still got the Thursday night snowfall on them; also the 7th consecutive day of snow cover, just 1+cm, and the 11th consecutive air frost.

Just to compare to the incredible start to December 2010 temperature wise, then the first 10 days showed a mean of -0.6C, the 1st 10 days of February showed a mean of 0.0C

A fine sunny morning. If it weren't for the frozen ground, patches of snow and a temp of around -8C, one could think it was summer...

Extremely cold start, clear all day with no wind and only just got above freezing early afternoon for a while. Currently clear, -2.3 deg C, wind calm. Today's maximum 0.9, last night's minimum -9.6, a 10-year record for this location. Have just called the headteacher at our local school as they have a burst pipe that looks like it could cause damage if not attended to quickly.
