Could still be ok for those just north of the central belt even at 9am:

Hi-res ECMWF meteograms seem to indicate snow for much of the central region at times tonight- mostly sleet in Dundee and Edinburgh, but a strong signal for snow before midnight in Glasgow and Stirling- and on high ground in central and eastern areas, a good chance of heavy snow this evening.

Just writing to say that us southerners are green with envy.

Yours sincerely,

Some rather jealous people.

Thanks for those, looks touch and go for my location based on that, little bit more elevation and a touch further inland of both Edinburgh and Dundee. Of course if temperatures do hold below 1C for the whole evening in both those locations it wouldn't take much to just keep the dewpoint just below 0C...

Rain here in the south of Glasgow. Falling onto a frozen surface. If I had a dog I would not take it out for a walk just now.

And yet snow is settling readily a mile north of the city centre. No hint of sleet yet.

He's been trying to steal other peoples snow for years now but this is going too far. Aye, a real snowciopath !

He keeps moving closer to me. Starting to feel slightly concerned.

Put a lock on the picnic bench just in case.

-2.7 C (rising), DP -4.0 C

Given the progress made by the band, I wouldn't be surprised if it hit Fife and the Lothians by about midnight, if not slightly before.

The Kirkcaldy meteogram predicts sleet before 3am, while most if not all precip is snow afterwards- which is bizarre, but the majority of the precip does occur before 3am.

The shaded/striped precip is snow, whilst the all-blue precip is rain.
