What are the chances of South Manchester (Airport area) getting anything today? BBC said 1pm-6pm snow a possibility this morning

The temperature has struggled up to 1.0°C its took almost 2 hours to get from 0.0c with the dew point at -3.8°C

I'm still confident we'll see snow over here today at some point the cloud is that snowy grey colour

I would say a chance of a very small accumulation looking at the models but not so confident now as the Met Office have even taken me out of the yellow warning zone now.

It must still be cold here as north facing walls are still plastered in snow, but it could just be surface cold due to the lying snow. Interesting, the snow cover at Aviemore (on the webcam) looks wetter and less substantial than in Newcastle!

Your best chance is overnight, IMO you will see some as the Low clears.

DPs rising fast in front of the PPN....I suspect the wind will be scouring the cold air out of the valleys now....close call I suspect...

Manchester Airport TAF goes for 40% rain/Snow throughout a good couple of hours before transitioning back to rain. Us lot here in the Peaks should be more/less guaranteed to get a good covering from this especially if the airport some 800ft lower on the Cheshire Plain is giving a good chance of snow.

You can see the 24hr trends showing the DPs soaring as the weather moved through from -9 to around 0 in a very short space around Loch Morlich....be worth seeing if they start falling soon...

The worst thing that could happen it a spell of icy sleet which turns all this snow into slush, allowing it to freeze tonight. I'd rather it was washed away if we can't have a snow event.

If NW England is seeing a wintry mix we should see some snow in the NE.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on the models today? Still looks game on for significant falls next week in the east, starting on Monday night! The GFS would give a similar spell of weather to February 2005, with heavy falls interspersed by some thawing, whilst the ECM would easily bring a foot of snow.

Was always going to be an away from the coast event. It is not the case of us always missing out - although it does feel like that, we are just in the wrong spot for snow this close to the coast and the warmer air.
