It is a streamer and a product of convection we could get some from this if im right lol

I could be wrong but I think streamers set up on clear days when the sun warms the sea

In winter, streamers are often caused by warm see surface temperatures interacting with cold air above causing convection. The legendary snowfall of December 17, 2010 around here was caused by a streamer interacting with a trough if I remember correctly.

Erm not really in jan , you need 850's of -6 preferably -7 (colder the better as off the Irish Sea)

The sun has no strength in it this time of year so has no impact, in feb it's a different matter but convection is made by the sun over land not over sea.

it is convection. It forms right there from nowhere

as I said I could be wrong..I was under the impression streamers didnt set up at night

Just been outside sgain, still snowing but was miffed to see just wet on the bins where there was snow before, but in all the 5 mins imwas out there the snow is bigger flakes, quite alot coming down sticking to the bin again and where it was just on car windscreen is now on the side windows of the car as there is a slight breeze coming in now wafting the snow about and the lampost i can see right down the bottom of the street i can really see the snow coming down.

Its died off here, just very light sleet atm. I think that could be it, doesn't look to be alot off ppn to come over our region now
