Very light snow still falling giving a patchy dusting on all surfaces except the roads - hoping for something a little heavier towards the back edge. Still nice to have seen snow falling and sticking eventually!

Us in Cheshire seemto be going through the lightest, crappiest bits of precipitation. There's just nothing to this band here

Well the band looks like clearing most places over the next couple of hours....so what next? There was meant to be precipitation about until after midnight with this first band but it's come in much faster and weaker than thought.

Is it me or is it dropping sse now?

Still snowing lightly here in Bacup although the flakes are slightly bigger than the talcum powder we have had so far.

We have got a covering but so small that you couldn't even attempt to measure it, probably a couple of millimetres at best.

It,s a bit ironic that after enduring over 1900mm of rain in 2012, a record in these parts the one time we want heavy stuff to fall we get the white equivalent of a heavy dew.

I just heard some cars skidding on the road in the snow. It must be black ice is forming.

....there is nothing to the band anywhere.....and as for the second band tonight....allI can see on the radar is those few showers leaving Ireland...thats not going to lead to much (although they are pepping up).....that leaves us waiting until tomorrow at the earliest..and tomorrow has always been forecast as too marginal (for me anyway)...still models are saying yes to more cod.......
