Snowing here once more, now the northerly is setting in. The showers aren't hanging around this part of the world for too long though, but there's a trough out eastwards across S.Yorks into tomorrow morning so will just have to see what that brings, if anything, here.

3.1 here wet and grey......I really cant see anything memorable coming......im not blaming the models, the forecasters or any rampers...thats weather forecasting and the possibility of a great spell was (and maybe still is) there....but thats all it was a possibility...I am a little annoyed with myself for falling for the hype....

Looking on rain alert radar looks like precipitation is going to start coming from a more northerly/northeasterly direction

At the moment the potential for heavy, proper snowfall on fri/sat/sun looks much more promising for the region and would by far eclipse what we've seen last 24 hours.

Last GFS run said rain for the west coasts...so I would urge anyone on the west coast to heed that rather through there toys out of the pram on friday when it rains...as we know it can rain here when snow looks nailed on...this doesnt....yet

For this part of the world....we shouldnt look to snow chances but cold.....get the really cold air in and snow will appear...(even then it can turn warm at the last minute)...at the moment the cold just doesnt dig in this far west

All in all a bit dissapointing this one for me. Apart from a little slushy mix last night, nothing wintry of note really. It was a shame the first band was so light in precip, because I had the right conditions for snowfall had it been heavier. Then the air was modified and temps on the wrong side of marginal for this mornings band to leave anything but rain. Typical cold week in January at the moment.

Turning out to be a bit of a damp squib for our region eh? Naggingly cold days and some frosty nights this week then. I want more (longer lying) snow damnit!
