Hmm, can't see that delivering more than a dusting, bulk will go south

This is a South East Flow, it is heading NW. It has a slight West tilt to it..can't see the problem...that crap down there will eventually end up on us..its too big to miss us here in the south of the region. what is tyour definition of dusting 2/5cm 10cm??

We need these temps to drop a bit for healthy covering-any chance?

temp will be fine :p

i think if you watch the track very carefully you can see the heavier stuff slowly begin to shift westwards too

Yes on the radar it will appear to be moving west due to the cyclonic flow of the low pressure, the main bulk of the energy will track north up the eastern side of the UK, our region won't be without snowfall and it's looking good.

It is looking quite nasty out at the moment, it is horizontal snizzle which is blowing off cars, roofs, paths etc....i can see some good drifting today.

I need to take the dog out soon but it looks bitter to say the least.

Well done to the models for picking up western extent of the ppn, the area of low pressure now moving into SE England with the heavier snow which is going to track up the eastern side of the UK, light to moderate falls further west.

Different to Friday as we haven't got the big cold blocking high pressure refusing to let the ppn advance north and east.

Don't know about that Liam.

The current radar picture seems to show a block of sorts working very well or is that just the general flow of the system.

If the latter is the case then I can't see where the northward progress forecast for later is going to materialise from.

It's supposed to run up the Eastern side of the country.

Snow eased further here, very light now. Can't see us getting more than 2-5mm mate!

But what about those majestic peaks the pennines, you know the ones which seem impenetrable to any advancing snow from the East.biggrin.png

and from what i saw a lot of showers managed to get over them yesterday in a strong easterly.

But this is coming from the SE in NNW direction-must be missing the western flank of the Pennines and coming up the gap.

Also this stuff hasn't come over miles of warmish sea but is progressing over a cooler land.

it will be interesting to see totals at the end of today. Thankfully we did not loose too much snow in the drizzle / rain which should not have happened lol

The ppn you see is associated with an area of low pressure which is going to develop E/NE'ly gales on it's northern flank over the north sea as it deepens.

It was an attempted ( failed ) humorous quip at how our region generally miss out. Must do better next time. Edited by Sceptical Inquirer

Gonna take the dog whilst the snow has stopped. This way I won't have to dry him when I get in. Clever eh? :D
