could be ice pellets. hard to tell. was wet at first but more like ice now

Graupel here, quite intense too.

Edit: Turning flaky

Freezing rain coats surfaces with thick ice when it hits a cold surface its very different from ice pellets.

I'm well aware what it is. and that's what was happening but now it's belting down with ice

I don't dare look at the radar. it's since livened up here without me looking at it so I'll stick with that. was way too slow looking south for the snow.

I doubt the snow ever make it here in Lancashire.

Least we know the flow is good enough for ppn to come out of nowhere from the east..... When that front does move up, could be fun afterall.

I pinned my hopes on that. for once the hills where the breeding ground.

Met Office now have me down for heavy snow tomorrow, certainly an upgrade from this morning! The 12z was showing many hours of ppn over N England from tomorrow.

The BBC weather have me down light snow from midnight then sleet from midday and then rain (wtf shok.gif ) for a hour 2pm then snow from 3pm to 6pm.

patchy snow started here.

Yep that very light blob to our east seems to be slowly creeping west and intensifying dramatically from nothing to diamond dust :D

Pictures taken today out walking the dogs this afternoon

Yes looks good Sf but we need a top up now as it's getting a bit icy under foot.

Maybe tonight will deliver.
