Have to agree its amazing here in scunny. Not the greatest of depth but still how it started here I expected nothing. I've had only about 3 hours sleep but I'm buzzzzzzzing. Just gutted my youngest daughters school is open but the eldest school is closed to which she replied I'm going back to bed!!!

And it's still snowing

I'm not sure how much snow we had during the night, but it looks quite deep on the grass now.I'll measure it in a little while.

We had a decent fall in the far west of North Yorkshire overnight. The winds were howling though so we got some pretty impressive driftf. The biggest on the field behind me was about 7 feet. Are we expecting more snow today?

Just reading on fb that the snow could stall over Scotland for the next 24/36 hours. What causes this?

Good morning,

Sounds like those inland did really well for snowfall.

Here, 7 m from the coast, I have heavy wintry precipitation,

a real mix, but it is only just settling at 1º C.

I'm meant to drive for a medical appt. I think it'll be ok.

B. :)

Haven't got access to radar, what's it like for Keighley/Bradford area for next few hours??

I'd rather be where you are, keep looking out your window, looks like a good spell is coming your way.

Every forecast seems to have snow until midnight for the area but the radar shows otherwise.

Moderate snow again in Hyde Park (Leeds), (I guess some would call it Heavy), falling on top of the 8-10cms we got overnight (haven't accurately measured). Another 3-6cms is possible from the forecast, which would be quite something. Very good fall of snow here. Could hardly sleep with anticipation.

Very tricky drive into work over the Wolds this morning - There wasn't too much new snow at our house just outside Louth, perhaps 1.5 inches, but as soon as you climbed over the first set of hills, the snow depth increased and there were some impressive drifts. Now in Lincoln where it's still falling and there is a good 2 inches plus of fresh snow. Will post pics later.

If you run the animation it looks like a glitch (lack of coverage?) in the radar as the end of the precipitation line jumps back and forth but the precipitation must still be there.

My guess is it is all connected back through the Netherlands and into Germany and it's all (well maybe...some) coming this way.

I am really surprised that there wasn't a wide-spread amber warning, these snow depths are identical, if not greater, than most of the snow that fell in the SW and the Midlands on Friday.

Radar showing a bit of meaty goodness coming this way, at least its still going and temps stuck at -0.6C.
