Ditto to Stormguy's above message.

Clear skies at 0830 and now plenty of large cumulus building.

Warming slowly in the sunny spells after the low of 9c (lowest temp since early May 31st)

Sunshine and very heavy showers is the theme here today. Because it's been dry so lately, all the water is just running off - some localised flooding possible this afternoon!

Cool at 14.7 degrees, breezy Northwesterly.

The sun and the showers have gone, and it's now dry and cloudy.

Although there don't appear to be any fronts- it certainly looks like we have one approaching from the north, the frontal cloud (and the suppression of shower activity) do not suggest "showers moving south" to me!

Enough to make for a miserable day!? :D

The rain fizzled out over the Lake District before it reached me. That confirms that it was indeed frontal type rain, as yesterday's convective storms didn't do much in the way of fizzling out over Lakeland!

Birmingham update at 18:15 on 19/6/2004.....

Current temperature : 13.3ºc

Humidity : 54%

Pressure : 1008Mb.

Wind : 17Mph from the NW.

Weather : Becoming overcast. The cloud type indicating the forerunning of a front pushing down from the North. (I wish it were January with this current synoptic set up! :D That said, unusual for June, but not necessarily uncommon.)

Sun and showers preparing to resume in Lancaster, after a dry cloudy afternoon. Temperature maxed at 14C, after a chilly night with a minimum of 5C.

Update: Rain shower mixed with half-melted hail.

According to my parents, the weather on the Tyneside coast has been cold, dark and wet all day. They may not have even managed to exceed 12C there.
