Would the latest ECM 12z bring sunshine and frosts for us under the influence of high pressure? or am I looking at it wrong?

I think it would , but others may beg to differ

18z GFS though brings a might beast from the East this time next week, which will affect even our parts...

...but may need plenty of aspirin tomorrow to get over it's hangover.

Bit of the foggy start to Saturday IMBY but hopefully it will lift and give us a bit of sun.

Might even spend the afternoon doing a bit of tidying up in the garden.

As for next week, it's looking like a cool down of sorts but how potent, certainly for our region remains to be seen.

Personally i'd settle for a few clear days and give it a chance for things to at least start drying out.

some Lovely wintry weather to look forward to next week

Harsh overnight frosts, and some lovely crisp winter days, even a possibility of ice days

Looking for snow at this range is a mugs game, however the possibilities will arise from time to time

a lovely end to winter IMO

Yep, will be a chance for the water levels to drop - we needed a respite.

Making the most of the almost springlike weather this weekend though, was great walking out today. Make the most of it, the cloud will start rolling in from next week and the temps will drop.

Yeah C.S, really nice day here in glorious east Cheshire, 7.3 degrees now, but every chance of a sharp frost tonight. However I'm kind of expecting a cold, dry, blowy end to the winter-although I did expect the pattern that's starting to show up now to start a couple of weeks ago!

Yep, def a good day. A bit colder and sunny would suit me though. :-) Not too fussed if we don't get any snow now, cold/frosty would suit me after the snow/rain stuff. bad.gif

It's been a lovely early spring like day here today, didn't check temp but it was acceptable for Feb. Was woken about 4.30am by a blackbird singing his heart out, it was a great sound to remind me that spring is coming. You North West lot are very quiet, whats up with you?!

Decided to sod working in the garden and went out walking instead and what a fantastic walking day it was.

A bit chilly and certainly wet under foot but not bad for February.

Hopefully a rinse and repeat day tomorrow but I think that the garden will be the only direction I will be heading in then.

I'll ask the question again, would it?

Failing any more snow or a prolonged nationwide freeze (which I realise was probably never going to be a realistic prospect anyway) I really would like to see a cool/cold sunny and frosty spell to see out the winter as we really haven't seen much in the way of that this year.

Mmmm a rather dissapointingly cloudy day across the Lake District with fells largely shrouded in a misty murky haze. However, with light winds and temperatures of 8 degrees it did quite early spring-like.

Tomorrow should be a much brighter day with lengthy sunny spells and with light winds it will feel better.

The next few days in the main for the NW look like staying dry but turning cold with night frosts and below average temperatures as well as a keen SE wind, so it will certainly still feel very much like winter.

As someone commented in the MOD thread this fast starting to look like an early December 2012 type setup with high pressure sat over us followed by the Atlantic invariably taking charge not too long after but ah well never mind it's not as if this so called 'easterly' was ever going to be really anything other than the dry and cold variety for us anyway (not that I'm complaining from a sunny and frosty POV obviously) , it simply means that those further east won't be getting anything either lol

It looks like the coming week will be predominantly dry, cloudy and cool/cold across the region and probably over most of the country.

Even areas to the South and SE/EA which always looked more favourable for any snow available now look like they will probably miss out apart from a few flurries here and there with the bulk of any snow hitting the content instead.

Personally I'd take a dry week (sorry few months) although preferably with a bit of sunshine as well.

Obviously these are disappointing charts for those expecting a snow fest but TBH that just about sums up winter 2012/13.

Lots of dry weather ahead which we havent seen much of in the last

12 months, v decent walking weather. We will be well placed for clearer conditions than the East, nothing worse than anticylonic gloom.
