Can I just say that the comet PANSTARS should be coming into view on thirsday. Hopefully there will be clear skies to view it. Here is link to a website with information about it http://earthsky.org/space/comet-panstarrs-possibly-visible-to-eye-in-march-2013#.UTSaF_ogGc0

Wow!! Fantastic day out there and I took the opportunity of a brief lunchbreak to have a quick ride around the Industrial Estate. There was a bit of a creak through a few weeks of non use - It was my knees not the bike!

Oooh! That's exciting. I wonder if it'll be as clear and as spectacular as Hale-Bopp was in 1997. That was soooo amazing. I hope we'll be able to see him. Anyone know where we should look? ( and if any smart Alec says 'the sky' I'll give em a thick ear) :D

Hi All

I am lucky enough to be in Washington DC at the moment - with the impending snow storm here :) I will be sure to get some pictures up when I can.. Hopefully I will get to stay at the hotel tomorrow and not have to go to work in which case I will be able to get even better pics

Cheers !

Well it's a 5% or less chance at this range, but someone out there has a lottery ticket with a 1 in 55,491.33333 chance of winning - but on Saturday, someone might be that lucky!

I don't think it'll be anywhere near Hale Bopp; in fact you might need to know exactly where to look and have quite dark skies. I'm trying to find a site which shows its location by day as we speak.

There's one in the original posted link from Tom:

PANSTARRS1stApril9pm.jpeg

I'll be using Google Sky to monitor it as I'm not that hot on star and constellation locations.

Comet-Pan-Starrs.jpeg

I've also found this:

Tell it to sod, off then.

I love snow and the cold, but this winter seems to have dragged on for ages.

Spring warmth is what I want now.
