Watching that band of precipitation coming up from France I am currently concerned that a lot of the precipitation is actually dying out over the Channel rather than strengthening as is the usual scenario. Sincerely hope things change as my cold fingers are well crossed that the forecast charts are correct.

I was actually thinking quite the opposite, building nicely, especially over Brittany at the moment heading north look http://www.meteociel.fr/observations-meteo/satellite.php

Looks good to me

good eve all.

Looking at the forecast on netweather for Bmouth it still has large amounts of snow on the cards for late tonight / tomorrow. It has an inch of rainfall when you add the totals up and gives a 95% chance that being snow, that could be 10-14inchs of snow.

Why are non of the tv / online forecasts that most people would hear / watch giving this a mention.

IF this does happen this would be massively disruptive and surely worth a mention even if just a possibility.

Have little to no experiance on winter set ups, I live in sunny Bmouth :)

I would say that the opposite is happening at the moment from what I'm observing on the radar, at least in the last couple of hours. What at first looked like mostly showery activity has now become a very organised band and is pivoting northwards.

I so hope you are right. That would be in accord with forecasts.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but on the basis of that satellite image, I'd say that the low pressure is perhaps slightly further north than some of the 18z runs were modelling it to be. It's only very tiny if at all, but that makes a huge difference to who gets snow.

I was actually referring to other parts of the UK that are receiving snow currently and will continue to do so! :p and what about the Channel Islands? In any case, Cornwall and many parts of Devon have seen less snow than almost anyone else in the country so I do think we're owed a bit from this system haha! biggrin.png

I completely agree but it looks like fir us in Exeter we won't see too much :( I'm so disappointed if I'm honest, this could have been epic and made up for the downgrade after downgrade that you will know well and just as hope was there, up pops another downgrade. I'm just pleased Cornwall and south Devon might get a good covering as they've had just as much bad luck in regards to snow as us in Exeter.

I may be in for a surprise but going sleep now and hoping for a surprise when I open my curtains in the morning

Well sleep is probably the best solution haha! We can't control the weather after all! rofl.gif I am personally optimistic about our chances for snow, since Exeter is in the area highlighted by the Met Office for snow potential, and that radar does have a lot of promise, so you never know! I live in London half the year, when I'm not at university, and a lot of snow there is aesthetically equivalent to a little snow here, since at least we have some countryside near Exeter where it looks pretty and won't go slushy as quickly!

It is not London or the south east so in the eyes of the BBC it is a non eventblum.gif

1.5C and 0.2C dew point. I think that looks good for snow if the precip reaches us. can anyone confirm that for me please?

Your dew point needs to be a bit lower to be on the safe side, though I am sure they will fall below zero imminently :)

W COUNTRY Snow tonight of 2-5cm+ for Exmoor & uplands fringing Lyme Bay into Dorset. Very little elsewhere N in region. Windy everywhere...

Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather

W COUNTRY Despite snow potential for some S parts of England, a major disruptive 'bullet' largely dodged: 50cm snow possible in Normandy!!

Ouch...Pretty much confirmed..

Well that concludes a rather rubbish winter then... bring back the warm sunny weather please. lazy.gif

temp -1.3c dewpoint -5c

Nonetheless even if I dont see snow tonight/tomorrow (although thats unlikely, even if its light) it would be interesting what you guys just 50 miles south of me will get, hopefully you guys get a dumping! Would be amazing considering its March!

Im still not sure, but it does give me hope for some people in the South as it just seems a bit further North than forecast, might do nothing to the finer details but could mean a slight shift Northwards.

It's nice to see there is still optimism on here, and with good reason :) as we speak the system is pivoting a large band of precipitation into South Devon and as the low pressure system moves eastward, the areas affected will be further east. Since the South Coast rarely gets much snow, this may still turn out to be a comparatively notable event.

I would also argue that the Low is currently a bit further North than the models portray. Wont make significant differences though. Still mostly light snow at best on southern coasts.

There is a lot of PPN off the Cornwall coast, still heading North and hasnt moved East yet.

Intensifying a little in the past 30 mins, south Devon and Cornwall should see the first ppn within the hour
