Amber warning is up for Durham and Northumberland. Lucky sods!

Pennines only. Hardly a shock.

A band of heavy rain spreading northwards across the UK has turned to snow in many parts, with some heavy and persistent snowfall likely to develop through the period into Saturday morning. High ground may see snow accumulations of 20-40 cm in places, with drifting and blizzard conditions due to the strong to gale force southeasterly winds. At lower levels, 10-15 cm of snow is likely in places. The public should be aware of the potential for severe disruption to transport and to power supplies.

Local Authorities affected and associated warning levels

Durham, Northumberland

The snow is certainly becoming more patchy now in the region and the light flakes we have here are not settling to the roads its just melting on impact

Give it up, guys! It's clear as day that we're getting nothing but dregs at best. What does 2 miles difference make? We're right on the fringe, so at best it means a little bit more snizzle, and less than we've seen over the last week from rogue showers. It's not happening here and was never going to.

Yep I was never confident it would get here from day 1 and thats proved to be the case its happened before and its happened again today, snow pushing up from the south west is often touch and go for the region

Just goes to show our best friend for snow is the north sea. Every heavy snowfall I can remember has been supplied by the good old north sea.
