All the best GP. I suspect the social side of netweather will be too hard to resist though.

You will be greatly missed, G.P.

I wish I had half your knowledge and insight regarding the multitude of tele-connections. Perhaps I'm getting old but to me trying to keep tabs on what has what effect on what is the mental equivalent of knitting spaghetti.

I wish you well.

All the best Stewart, you've certainly pushed the forecasting envelope and your Global weather pattern approach has been fascinating to follow.

I hope you're appreciated in your new role as much as you have been by members here in Netweather.

Gutted.com. It was your posts which got me interested n teleconnective forecasting. You'll be a great loss to NW but really pleased for you in that the work you've done is being recognised on a multi-national scale. Good luck!

best of luck GP. you have inspired a crop of people to value your methods.

but this isn't a time to mourn you leaving but to congratulate you for winning this much deserved role.

Best of luck and let's hope you can continue to win over the large body of Met skeptics.

Best Wishes Stewart, as others have said the organisation that is getting you in their ranks are one lucky company!!

Also have learnt so much from your techniques and how all the parts of the Jigsaw puzzle have to slot in for long range forecasts to work.

Your forecasts will be sorely missed on here

The Very Best is GP and I think I know who is going to be gaining from the best

http://www.bbc.co.uk...onment-21967190 I reckon I know where GP has gone it is so obvious when you read the last part of this story LOL

Here is the quote

A Met Office spokesman said: "The science of long-range forecasting is at the cutting edge of meteorology and the Met Office is leading the way in this research area. We are confident that long-range outlooks will improve progressively.

"Looking at the skill of these outlooks over many individual forecasts clearly shows that they provide useful advice to their specialist users more often than not."

When asked about weather predictions in the coming months Prof Slingo said the cold weather could continue into the middle of April.

She added: "Our monthly forecast favours cold conditions continuing.

"Into the summer it's much more difficult to predict but we're expecting a return to near normal conditions into May and then June but of course its important to emphasise that this is only one of a whole sequence of forecasts we give."

I really don't think there's any point in speculating about that, but for the avoidance of doubt I can tell you that you're barking up the wrong tree!

I really can't add any more than has already been said, other than to say that without your expertise Stewart none of us would have anywhere near the meteorological knowledge that we do now. You have, and continue to be an inspiration to us all, and I can only thank you for the countless hours you have spent helping us all to further our knowledge, and wish you the very best in you new role.

Cheers

Kris

Massive congratulations Stewart, superb that your work has been recognised and allows you to use your knowledge commercially, must be a proud moment, really delighted for you.

Since I joined Netweather, the information you have brought from beyond the scope of the 'normal' approach to forecasting has been first class. You have introduced so many to the bigger picture in the dynamics of the atmosphere, the sheer scope of this big picture got me completely hooked into this site. Always greeted your educative posts with enthusiasm and interest and will miss your insight, it's been fun deciphering them at times !

A big miss for Netweather to hear this, and again wish you great success in the future. Well Done.

Fair enough. I thought that since GP is so good they would have wanted to have someone who knows that field as well as he does. But I truly apologize if I have barked up the wrong tree. I will surely miss his incredible way of delivering the most advanced form of meteorology that i have ever seen.

I know we will all miss him, i hope he comes back one day.

Bye Man
