There really are some superb cloud formations around when the cruddy low cloud finally shifts it. Huge cbs over Bristol way lit up by the setting sun - beautiful.

Just got a direct hit from the "streamline" coming up from the south.A small period of torrential rain followed by heavy rain either side.Lots of surface water evident now.

It's here in Newbury too .. Nice bit of downpour this afternoon and eve to soften up and quench the ground... Lovely.

There has been plenty of heavy showers this evening and some gusty winds but I still have not heard any thunder strangely.Posted Image

Maybe we will get some later, there does seem to be some lightning reports way further sothwest of me.

Thunderstorms already developing over South Wales along with smaller shower cells over Cornwall.

Could be a sign of what's to come today.

Looks like a clear gap has developed already.

Nice line of showers forming around Cornwall/Devon & plenty of showers in Wales. Will the showers out at sea make their way up the Bristol channel, or will they die out before making it to land

Nice to have that lightning storm last night, even if brief and that hour gave us 3mm of rain in total

Rather grey today, a bit colder than of late 18.8c

A steady SW wind today of 8mph

Looking like a wet day tomorrow

Very breezy here again today with yet more big beefy shower clouds forming.

Will this mean my small area will get any thunder though, I highly doubt it based on what happened yesterday.

Some nice potent cells scattered over Devon & Cornwall currently, heading into SW Somerset soon.

I think this sums up today well, courtesy of Matt Hugo;

"Remember showers are hit or miss. Today they'll form in 'lines' in S Eng, so you might get lots of them but 5 miles away none at all."

I'm thinking convergence lines today where there could be frequent showers hitting some places, yet 10 miles either side of that convergence line, you could stay dry all day.
