Over 100mm here now since the rain started yesterday

Flash flooding hits homes after rain across Wales

Homes have been affected by flash flooding following heavy rain which has prompted weather warnings across Wales.  Fire crews have been dealing with incidents in Neath Port Talbot, Gwynedd and the south Wales valleys.

Emergency services were called to 10 properties in a street at Aberavon near Port Talbot.  Fire officers said the drainage system was unable to cope with the amount of rain that had fallen but water had only entered one home so far.  Crews are pumping water away from the street in an attempt to prevent other homes being affected.  Incidents have also been reported at single properties in Blaenavon, Torfaen; Trealaw in Rhondda; and Abertillery in Blaenau Gwent. In north Wales, fire crews attended reports of flooding at two homes, in Caernarfon and Bangor.

Really kicking off over Bristol now. Blitzortung shows a line of sferics now developing. Will probably pass east of here though.

Really!?!?!?

Fresh as a daisy here - the most pleasant its felt since June lol (hence maybe why our storm chances here are a bit slimmer, despite the Estofex Level 1)

Thunder, lightning and torrential driving rain here in Yatton now. Very nice gust front just coming across with scud swirling around ahead of it and a slight green tinge to what looks like a whale's mouth type cloud formation. Didn't expect that!

Amazing rain here, of tropical quantity and recently one very loud boom of thunder.

VERY blustery now. Lovely looking clouds about.. No thunder as yet. But looks mean in the background.

Managed to capture this:

The line of showers are really struggling to move east though.. They refuse to cross the M5

Edit#2 Started to rain, Some VERY distant rumbles.

I suppose what must be making things worse is convergence going on here.

We have clouds moving west at quite a rate, yet the system is moving east into them

All calm now with steady rain, was an impressive little storm that went through on that squall and some quite intense rain. Must be about 15mm out there now.

Very nasty on the M5 though as the squall line pretty much follows it, except Gloucester. :p

omg i thought the south west was meant to be crap for storms? they've had a lot in the last week

the only place crap for storms this year is the north west of england, parts to the east like manchester have fared a bit better but they are still below average for thunder count days, but the bulk of the north west hasn't seen much at all this year,  the worst in my living memory,  I thought last year was bad, this year takes the biscuit. Only one overhead thundery shower here, I say thundery shower because I dont class 2 fairly close bangs and 3 moderate rumbles a storm
