Looking a bit more sleety now, hopefully the back end will put in some colder air.

Yeah it's definitely changed to more of a sleety appearance now.Possibly evaporative cooling is taking place due to the intensity of the rain although strangely though, the temperature hasn't fallen back; in fact it's actually risen slightly.

Week ahead cold with wintry showers and frost and ice making an appearance...just caught the Beeb weather..its ok but not thrilling.

Not sure what to think in Model Thread either.

Accuweather on my phone says rain with snow mixed lol....no just rain here.

Temp has fallen back a little to 3.1C. Absolutely bucketing it down, at least the intensity of it is interesting I suppose. Could be worse! it could be 3.1C and drizzle :p

Model thread as always is IMBY driven although there is an optimism that most of the UK is going to see the first cold spell of this winter. How long, how severe and will it snow on Tuesday morning outside the pizza shop on the high street still need confirming but the signals for a spell of more seasonal weather this week are still there.

You lot 'up north' of the region should count ourselves lucky to see anything white even if it is sleety-not much chance of anything wintry here in bootle only cold rain!!!

Turning more to sleet here now although still a long way from snow.

Maybe a couple of hundred feet higher is getting white but I can't see that for the hill fog.

Temperature is up to 3.1c now.

What a filthy day - persistent heavy cold rain (not even bothering myself with deciding if there are sleety bits mixed in) - It's got that setting in look about it, but I think things will improve eventually to give us a few hours of respite towards the end of the day.  The low is going to dominate things for the next day or so, so heavy showers following and hopefully (fingers crossed) turning more wintry?

Interesting for tonight.....;)

Look at the snow potential showing over the high parts of EA, oh silly me there aren't any high parts of EA whilst snow up here is reserved for the Pennines only.Amazing who variable temps, dew points etc can be across this tiny country of ours.

ITV weather forecast said snow across the region this evening, even to lower levels before turning back to rain later.

I'm not sure how seriously to take this as I have a problem taking most things on ITV seriously but maybe, just maybe they're on to something.

In the meantime I'd immagine that flooding is starting to become a concern across parts of our area by now.

Certainly the stream beyond our back garden has increased a tremendous amount since early this morning and is now running on a par with times in the per Christmas period.

Maybe some issues in more prone areas later today if this rain keeps up.

Forecasts (including Met) favour the atlantic pushing through towards the end of the week, making mincemeat of the block to the east, but that's a long way off yet.  We've still got the most of the week to go and things could change.
