If the sun makes a decent appearance later, it's likely to set off some beefy showers around Dorset, Devon, Somerset and up in To Wales.

It's dried up here now after some very light rain this morning, Now cloudy and breezy, Temp 14.8c, N/N/W 7mph, Gusting 17mph.

The sun is in and out here, 17°C on both stations, some clouds building, it looks quite ominous at the moment.

The sun came out for just 10 mins at 12.15 and some very large drops of rain started but only lasted a minute or two ,so fingers crossed one or two showers could brew up .im off to put some sausages in the pan and squeeze the last of the brown sauce out of the bottle ,im sure summer will arrive this year and with it some Spanish plumes ,time perhaps for some evening STellas watching the storms ,cheers gang .

Yes Fromey some cells popping up now, currently a downpour near Wells and others forming towards Bristol and they seem to be drifting S/SW. It's certainly quite humid today and feels ripe for action when the sun does break through.

 

I find it fascinating that a front can drift Westwards with nuisance value light/moderate rain (and not be remotely convective) which dies right out before the front then reinvigorates with convective activity later in the day.

Feeling slightly muggier now the high level cloud is thinning out. Any action here won't be until this evening, now.

Wind picking up here gusting 21mph N/N/E just now, There has been spits and spots all afternoon but nothing that mounted to much. Will be interesting how far the band of rain to our East pushes West and if it fizzles out, The NMM data are/were showing we should of had Moderate rain from 4pm.. Temp 11.4c.

The Nmm-6 shows most of the rain over Northern England , eastern England and perhaps the North Midlands, a large part of this region will stay cloudy with a few spots of rain tomorrow

Grief this band of rain is so slow moving East, It's about 10 miles East from me now just touching Chesterfield. 

Is it actually making progress Westwards but decaying as it does so while constantly being fed by the North Sea onto the nearest areas to the East coast?

 

If you review the radar from the whole day it seems that way and the further West it gets the rain dies out, the accumulation facility on the Net Weather shows this quite well.

Unlike the rest of you, a GLORIOUS day here, spending the day on the Lizard. Wall to wall hot sunshine with just a little high cloud keeping at bay.
