Yet another grey, sunless utterly foul day with the weekend & beyond now looking rather poor to *sigh*

 

Saturday is a classic example of one of those days that looks sunny on the face of it but the reality is always:

convection build up, if it was winter, would be clear sky under high pressure, sun not strong enough to create convection

Had a rather hefty downpour a few hours ago, with a couple flashes of lightning and quite a few loud rumbles of thunder as it cleared. Certainly been spoilt with these storms recently

I think some parts of the region must have had flash flooding this afternoon/evening with how that narrow band of thundery downpours has moved so slowly while seemingly back building in places. Meanwhile to the East of it we have a lovely clear evening for the first time since Sunday with the sun now setting into the cloud associated with the downpours!

I've just got drenched walking back from the pub! The rain drops are really close together, but it is quite heavy - you would never guess from the radar returns..

Interestingly it looks very much at the moment like a typical Pembrokeshire Dangler set up albeit not that intense.

Got up to a dizzying 16.1c earlier when the sun came out, now overcast stratus and 14.2c.

Very black clouds whilst in Exeter doing the dredded clothes shopping. Only a few spits of rain in the wind and on the way home I noticed some very black clouds to the N, NNW and NW. Only light rain coming out of them.

Hilarious! 

 

A totally grey but dry day with Stratus and Stratocumulus and despite the temperature nudging 17c the washing didn't dry totally despite being on the line for over 9 hours! Now the sky is clearing from the ESE and had this happened 5 hours ago we would have had a pleasant afternoon and dry washing!

Here too, more solid slate grey skies, only higher than yesterday. Must be getting close to a week since we had some proper sunshine, unlikely to get much next week either looking at the charts.
