Just had the closest lightning bolt I have experienced! I thought it had calmed down a bit then out of nowhere an extemely close strike. Just saw the flash and instant boom.

morning all, lovely storms for a good chunk of the night, currently a nice line of lines stretching from Bournemouth on a line due north, missing here by 10 miles or so, but new cells developing around the Salisbury area look to be heading for my area in the next hour

Well all I can say is Estofex was wrong yesterday about the level 2 and I can only hope it is wrong again today. Pointless if all the cells keep going over the same track.

I suppose the big plus of getting naff all is that I got a reasonable night sleep...well, as much as possible given the wretched warmth!

Meanwhile, a storm going like the clappers south of Bristol, heading towards eastern Wales again.

yes, it seems to be training right through the westbury area....that corridor of intense rain and storms is edging ever closer to here in Lyneham (about 7 miles to my west)

nice captures Karl

what ISO though as seem quite noisey - for lightning should be able to lock down at low iso

ISO 100 - Its probably due to me fiddling with them in photoshop as they were shot in RAW. I was trying to bring out some of the cloud structure, so was messing with Exposure and Fill Light.

Noticing that reading and bucks got nowt too overnight.

Makes me feel a tad better but frankly there could not have been more misplaced hype for our area last night.
