Just drove home from Kibblesworth to Washington. Snowing all the way, A1 all 3 lanes covered in snow. Saw 1 gritter but it wasn't plowing or gritting. Could be interesting in the morning if this freezes over. Good start to the spell, lets hope we get even better when the winds swing round at the weekend.

You really think so, GK? I can't see where the showers are going to come from. When will the wind change?

If the winds turn a bit more westerly showers can pep up off irish sea and cross over the Pennines like they did last week. However they only got as far as consett area, but with a stronger wind I would expect them to travel further.

Unfortunately the winds have veered NW again so might be out of luck.

Will go to sleep happy though as have a slight covering and temps just below freezing.

Got a light covering in Darlington after the initial fall of snow which lasted for around an hour and a half another fall of snow came at around 23:20 then another around 00:30

Don't think we got much after that blizzard around 9.30 which lasted for quite a while. Cars, roofs, grass and pavements still got a decent covering on them but there's definitely been a thaw over night

There's a covering of snow/ dusting here this morning, which is more than we've had since March 2013, so that's canny I guess.

It would be nice to get a bit more over the weekend or into next week, I won't hold my breath though if it stays North-Westerly

That looks atrocious, also note the latest measurements which states it's dry!!:-)

Without a heated rain gauge it will be.

In any case a lot of that could be drifting of existing snow cover considering how windy it is.

Looks like South Yorkshire is the place to be right now, hoping for more surprises over the weekend and next week now

Yes seems like we have missed the best of it again. Ok we have a dusting but some of the pictures in other regions make you envy.

I can’t see much in the way of snow from now on. I can’t really understand the warnings for Sunday.

We shall see.

Had a covering of snow overnight which had frozen slightly, so had to scrape it off the car windscreen at 07:10.

Better than nowt!
