That is one hell of a snow spell we'd be buried alive!! :shok:  :cold: :cold:

Classic N / NW Polar LP hitting E Blocking HP - pretty much an ideal setup - heres hoping but coastal rain and sleet - elevation is everything.

Conditions look good for some of us to see some snow falling over the next 24-36hrs, -7/-8c uppers low DP's and the freezing level will be brought down to the surface in any showers.... We just need to get some showers...... Tall ask? :)

Snow to the north, snow to south, and snow to the east of us...what a pathetic state of affairs, beyond any doubt we live in the worst weather location in a country thats crap for weather anyway....i despair sometimes i really do. the charts pip posted earlier look good but will quite simply not happen as over a week away plus gfs precip charts are garbage.....and to round this rant off the storm is also looking rubbish now..just a bog standard low pressue system wind and rain......im gonna move to the highlands of scotland and become a hermit.

As others have said, conditions look on the right side of marginal for snow here, just need the precipitation, if we get it and it is heavy then a cover will easily be put down. Its a pity another wet windy spell will wash it all aside come Wednesday, but any cover is good. Fingers crossed this time tomorrow I will be looking at a white scene.

Ahhh SWerlys are awful usually for this area, expecting a mostly dry day!

pip, take them charts with a pinch of salt, the GFS PPN charts have always been awful and are going against the Met Office, BBC, Euro4, NMM, NetWx-SR, im 95% sure no one in this region except maybe central/eastern cumbria (the fells could produce light-moderate homegrown showers) and south cheshire at a push will see PPN tomorrow let alone snow. Its a bit of a joke that a W/SW will produce no ppn for this region but thats why its one of the worst in the uk for snow.

Plus those charts are misleading, the light blue/pink areas make it look like more precipitation than there actually is. Always have to watch out out with those ones.

With that in mind looks like Cumbria and North Lancashire could catch some precip and anyone in the shadow of the Welsh mountains it's a no go as many would expect.

It's looking like we may miss out tomorrow but fear not with such an unstable NW airflow for much of the week and weekend we may get lucky more so towards the end of the week/weekend, fingers crossed.
