Breezy and mild this morning, 6.5C.

Not feeling very mild here with a temperature of 4.1c at present, light rain showers and a 13 mph W  breeze.

About 4 hours of sunshine required today to make this April the second sunniest since the sunshine recorder was installed in 2000. No chance of beating April 2007 which recorded just over 190 hours. Up to the end of yesterday the total was just short of 174 hrs.

If the figures on Roger Brugge's site are accurate, its now the sunniest April on record at Shawbury. 216 hours up to yesterday, beating 2007 (206, KZ) and 1984 (208, CS).

Some very impressive totals in some other places too, notably Boulmer and Leuchars which are both well over 200 despite their proneness to North Sea fog.

I think nearly every week day this month has been glorious sunny bar one or two, shame that the only real dud days all fell on weekend's (a pattern set to continue into May this weekend pfft.)

This week not been nearly as bad as forecast, all rain at night with plenty of sunny spells by day, temps just coolish around 10-12c, today the cloudiest day as the winds from the north/north east.

Here's to hoping the pressure build for next weekend onwards is a trend, real warmth potential if the high goes to plan (aka 06z).

A bright, often sunny afternoon with a top temp of 11.7C. Perfect grass cutting conditions.

Conor you really need to relocate away from Telford.

just as well it's not Dec to early march!, you would have a dumping of snow, followed by a thaw tomorrow

Some torrential downpours forecast from the nnm 4 for around the 3 to 7 am time frame. If this is correct we shall see more rain in this time slot than all of April...., !

About 3 hours of moderate rain overnight between 3.30 and 6.30. Now dry and calm with a temp of 8.7C.

Rain will make the grass grow. Bad news for gardeners but good news for farmers in this area who have been waiting for some decent rain to really kick start the spring growth.
