I feel this feature may catch some people by surprise.. I'm pretty sure it's further east.. will drag cold air with it, and probably via means of evaporative cooling it will deliver snow too.. I'm not saying we'll get a foot of snow, but I'm saying Northwest England might well see something off this.

It seems to be following perfectly along the N to the NW wind, so could carry it down the Irish Sea?

Possible snow from polar low later, could affect other areas as it moves down

Might stay up a bit, especially since a good dumping will mean that my college will be closed tomorrow as well! :D

Not sure why there is so much excitement, only set to hit south merseyside, cheshire and north wales.

IT WILL COMPLETELY MISS THE BULK OF THE NW: LANCASHURE, CUMBRIA, GTR MANCHESTER ETC.

The track will be difficult to pinpoint and 30 miles East is nothing. (Of course it could be 30 miles further West too  )

If this comes off ill be happy, its just a bonus feature, so I wont be too disappointed if it doesn't materialise-

Not sure if its a true polar low- as mentioned in the relevant thread the upper air temp don't look cold enough to be a true polar low, could be an interesting night! I for one will be staying awake

just posted in the polar low thread but i don't know why i bother i kn ow deep down i will see nothing from this, as per chuffing usual.

Ah polar lows, rare phenomenal snow events that affect the north west very rarely delivering bucket loads of snow - i doubt it will affect Cumbria, Merseyside, Cheshire, and all parts of GTR MAnchester and Lancashire with the exception of the area where I live.

Currently looking out of my window where it is raining, grey and there is now no snow cover whatsoever.

yawn.....

Please show us your location in your profile.

Thanks

Ian

The track is already different to what ECM predicted, it will change again. That's the excitement. This could go either way and will be fun to watch.

BBC upgrading it again and have it clipping much more of the North West.  I think it's tracking more easterly than they first thought.

I have not even seen a tv forecast in the last couple of days

that grpahic looks more north wales cheshire than merseyside lol

Because they are very rare and very interesting as these features develop as I'm sure some people will agree, and anyway the track could completely change yet so Bolton (which gets far more snow than the Wirral by the way) may still see something from this!
