The western edge of this area is under a Orange, possible Red warning tomorrow. 200mm of rain possible, at moment signs point to the very worst will hit Cumbria, but has been the odd run which has put it smack bang over us, given we had a load of floods here earlier in the week this has the potential for a significant event.

NOTE: We are under weather warnings with the Met from tomorrow for the foreseeable future, the next week isn't looking that great for the Pennines.

Don't know about you lot but I'm well and truly ready for the winter rollercoaster ride. I've have cut the grass nice and short to encourage frost, winter tires go on tomorrow, dashcam is ready for the snowchases which im hoping to make an edit with at the end of season. Got next Saturday/Sunday afternoon and evenings off so a chance of seeing something next weekend if the models don't downgrade. Fingers crossed for some scenes like this in the next few months.

On a different note whilst out at work this evening I noticed how high the River Ouse in York is and also the Wharfe in Tadcaster and this is all before this forcasted monsoon over the next few days, I can imagine we will see some severe and disruptive flooding across the region.

Aire, Wharfe and the Nidd have already burst there banks in various places yet we are due to have 4 more days of heavy rain. Think the Yorkshire region might have been blissfully ignorant of how badly they were going to be affected by this.

Nothing noteworthy rain wise here windy though. Looks like the forecast got the rainfall amounts wrong by quite a margin elsewhere.

The Aire in Leeds has burst its banks. The amount of rain here hasn't been particularly high - certainly nothing exceptional - but I think the high amount of rain in the Dales has contributed. It's rising fast this morning.

Aire upstream from Leeds is now close to its highest totals ever recorded -

All downstream better hope their defences hold, pity Leeds seems stuffed already and the defences weren't built a year ago.

Maybe see flooding hitting the news prior to the possible cold snap next w/e as most rivers are above average despite a generally drier day overall? (Dry most of the day here but the Don has been above the avg datum all day so far?)

All eyes on the ouse no doubt though from monday night onwards?

(Managed to time a couple of days in Whitby next weekend to an interesting period regs the weather tho? :))

Lack of posts here show yet again nothing extraordinary happening here. Little in the way of rain and a gust up to 51mph

Pretty blowy out there now though! Worst winds in ages up here now, really hammering through. Nice to hear :)

Not sure on the weekend though.....latest BBC and Look North forecasts tonight were crap. Nothing but 5c and a few wintry showers on NY moors. Thats not snow. I was hoping for an ice day and troughs pushing down giving proper snow. Still time for upgrades though i guess...

EDIT:

Actually the METO site forecast is pretty good for my nearest location (0.6 miles away) near enough ice day, with feeling like -5 all day and chance of a snow shower. Bring it on! :cold: :cold:

Looking forward to the weekend on top of the Yorkshire Wolds ..............hopeful of a dusting at least

North York Moors looks a good bet, also Yorkshire Wolds and Howardian Hills best placed. Still unsure for low levels and further inland, weekend will be coming into NMM range tomorrow so will be attempting some snow forecasting like last year.

6z is a beautiful run for those in the east of the Pennines could see snow pushing inland on Saturday morning and the same overnight into Sunday. When the precip arrives uppers always turn more marginal which still leaves me unsure for areas close to sea level. The only advantage is that prior to any precip with have uppers close to -10c across the region so cold air would already be in situ, of course timing is important as this night/day could mean the difference between rain/sleet/snow. Snow tires ready for the forest tracks of Dalby Forest on Saturday afternoon :)
