My local forecast predicted a high of 20°C for here today, whereas in reality we're about to break 23°C

Interesting day today. Maxed out at 23.4 °C, which is a smidge below my 2015 high (23.6 °C) but more noticeable was how much warmer the air felt by early evening than it had at lunchtime. It really was obvious that the fresher conditions we'd had in the morning were on their way out.

 

Hoping to reach 30 °C here this week: I reckon I have a decent chance on Wed and Fri. Not looking forward to the 20 °C nights, though...

Here goes then... Pleased to see it is clear, but only just, there is a lot of muck lurking not far to the W and SW and N. So need the wind to stay S, E or SE to keep it away. Sun shining already, here's hoping it stays and pushes us past the magic 25.

A good chance that the date record for the maximum temp' on July 1st will fall here tomorrow. It currently stands at 26.7c  in 2009.

I would think today's record of 27.2c in 1995 is safe.

Thanks for the birthday wishes all. Though don't like the storm forecast for here this week now. Looks poor with storms to the north of us tomorrow and then Friday has been downgraded quite significantly in the 00z with storms developing east of here.

Quite a bit of uncertainty remains, not often do these plumes roll in. Best to keep an open mind as expectations can quickly overtake reality on the ground. As for pants? Too hot for them.

24 C now, clear apart from a few rogue altocumulus (thunderstorm portents? Or just nuisance cloud?). Easily warmest day this month and year already, and only just past 11am.
