Looking at this evenings Met Office forecast, tomorrow looks absolutely diabolical. Heavy rain and gusts of 44 mph along the coast. Cancel the picnic! Tell the dogs their walk is cancelled!

On the other hand.... this evening's NMM 12z high res output says no rain for much of our Region! Absolutely fascinating! Is NMM really going to be that wrong??

Thanks for replying Surrey. I think your assumption is probably right.

Certainly the timing from NMM was somewhat adrift today, but maybe not massively so? Here's the comparison of the NMM chart v actual.

Just want to know who ordered the Octoberfest down on the south Kent coast today.

Very sad seeing holidaymakers and kids being blown around with horizontal rain and temps of 15C.

Horrible dark wet and windy morning, more akin to late October so far this week

Chucking it down yet again here. What a dreadful week this is turning out to be, relentless Atlantic ghastliness. We really are paying for that beautiful Saturday aren't we?! Quite mild though despite the gloom, currently 18C.

Very windy here (already) but still dry. The temperature actually isn't too bad, currently 18.4C. Not that it feels pleasant in the stiff wind.

Looks like a soaking for the SE corner, but more a 'short sharp' band of squally heavy rain for EA, particularly Suffolk & Norfolk.

Sunshine now in MK, think there will only be a glance of a shower now.

Wow..

Incoming!!

Wow indeed - heading straight for Norfolk. Just had a mini monsoon here! And look at that huge, trailing 'squall line' that stretches from Reading all the way to Brittany!

Jesus! Very heavy rain here for the last half hour I was not expecting it to be like this amount falling this morning

Neither was I! Went for a walk in Windsor Great Park, soaked lol.

Pouring down in Cambridge once again, lots of surface flooding, plenty more on the way looking at the radar

Squall feature looks a bit tasty.

It could be a legacy of such a long-lasting and steep temperature gradient (very hot Continent v cool Atlantic); if so, Autumn could be interesting? Absolutely piddling it down!

Intense squall line, having extremely heavy rain here for the last 40 minutes! Lightning and thunder too, wind has dramatically increased.

my god it has been a while from when I experiacned something like just now..

Thunder and lightning the rain now, something else got vids..

Local flooding round here now...

AND MORE INCOMING!!! The squall is moving a lot more North North east than forecast I think...

Looking at the radar, to my untrained eye the line continues into the Channel towards Guernsey. Don't think this is over yet. Got friends in Morden telling me the rain was absolutely biblical there.

The area just east of Southampton looks to be getting the worst of it so far, rain rate of 30mm/hr plus for over an hour now so flooding almost inevitable down there.

Here in Cambridge it's just moderately heavy but still creating lots of surface flooding

Biblical rain for sure here! It just won't stop. Never seen a squall last so long!

Thundering here and jaffa cakesing down, some flash flooding I expect has occured, thankfully it would take a lot of jaffa cakesing to flood my area.
