So is it missing us the no northwest shift

Doesn't look like 'missing' to me ...

Looks like outflow boundaries are the cause of this - see https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/83478-southeast-england-east-anglia-weather-chatjuly-1st-2015/?p=3246191 There's a definite chilly surface breeze. Consequently, lapse rates should be climbing, low cloud is still travelling SWW and uppers still NNW so shear is available, too.

Home grown to spark off anytime soon?

After this one's cleared off, started etc etc, there's another one waiting in the wings. We need this one *not* to swing further west, it's current trajectory is straight for Kent,

Five lightning strikes here in as many minutes. These storms appear to be extremely elevated, surface conditions are playing no part in their development from what I can tell.

And another strike whilst typing and rolling thunder, not shotgun type, which supports the elevated comment.

Forgive me, but after watching everyone else get either rain, T&L, or both, I'm finally thinking things might happen IMBY. Heavy rain and T&L (not much, but the first today for here) about to hit the Ipswich area??

Not much Thunder in this bit of the storm. Rumbles have not gotten louder, so I think it's losing it's strength.
