A few torrential downpours so far today, including one while driving up the M5 to work. Very muggy feeling and dead calm between the showers but also very messy sky with generally far too much low cloud to actually see any cbs.

The Sun is coming out in Essex...... hardly rained here but hopefully the sun might give some heat to get things going!!! :cc_confused:

if you take the met office warning at face value then you won't see much but you never know

I'm in Maidenhead and it wasn't as bad just now as it was on the way here at about 9am. Absolutely lashing it down it was. Can't see much in the way of thunder yet today though...

no there isn't much in the way of thunder at all but there is plenty in the way of rain , I have avoided the worst so far but not sure how long that'll continue for

seems to be very little in the way of thunder but the amount of rain some are seeing looks heavy in places , as I said earleir if we had this is the summer time with the length of daylight hours and the strength of the sun we would be getting a pasting from electrical activity as it is thank god it's october

Showers going east and west, the joys of being in #NewtonPopplefordStormShield.

Sun out now and the temperature is responding - really does feel like summer in direct sunshine. Lots of popcorn shower activity over this area, with cells rapidly developing so perhaps a few isolated rumbles. Not great looking for organised storm activity though.

Been heavy rain here on and off since midday.

Seems to be brightening a little now. Recorded 6mms in the hour.

I reckon the Peak District and surrounding areas will be in with a good shout later. As for the rest of us I think a bit of rain, a bit of sun, and in general very average and unremarkable weather.

Heavy rain for the past half hour here, with a torrential burst, now winds have picked up looking very autumnal :)

BBC Northwest has us down for thundery-rain 3pm onwards as the band moves into the north. Already the Goyt Valley to my south is being enveloped in rain.

Amazing how little thunder there is today given the intensity of some of the downpours. Currently got a real corker going here in Aztec West, north Bristol, making a right racket on the office roof. Just missing the thunder.

A few strikes were detected near Stoke-on-Trent about 20 minutes ago. Sorry I can't post charts.

Showers seem to be grinding to a halt here, unfortunately I'm not under one.

You'd struggle to make up how the heavy showers or anything with interesting intensity has missed here.. Virtually all went just to the east yesterday, mainly just to the west early this morning, then all to the east along with forming a few miles north of us today.. The few coming this way were the ones that died out.

Now it has all ground to a halt with us in a hole with nothing happening while showers spring up everywhere else lol.
