I hope it's a cold one this year.. although I favour milder conditions the child inside me wants a season of frost and snow. Unfortunately with a minimum of 6C last night, the first frost is yet to hit here. Already it's clouding over here so the first frost will have to wait a little longer

Even the mildies want snow it's been that rare! :D

Just watched a video of the famous 1978/79 video to wet the appetite. Now am going into this winter looking for full on blizzards, setting the bar high for another great fall, doh! :blink2:

Unfortunately mate we live in the warmest place of the region, but at least this year is looking better than the last 2 if we want snow. :)

When it didn't matter what part of the region you lived in and "MARGINAL" didn't come into it!!!

That's unreal ... seems crazy to see Seacombe encrusted in sea ice!

Plus the ferry is still running it looks like. They didn't let a few icebergs stop them running the service. Nowadays a sleet shower brings the whole fleet to a stand still.

Hi Everyone!  My first ever post.  Be gentle with me :D

I'm hoping for plenty of snow here in West Yorkshire this winter.  Judging by the spatial coverage of the snowfall across Eurasia early signals are relatively +ve

We had very little snowfall in Leeds last year.  In fact I recall just one day where snow accumulated with 4-5cm on the ground for around 24 hours.  Days where snow fell were limited to 2.  Judging by the latest teleconnections and general snow cover evident across Eurasia it looks as if things are looking up!  The potential is certainly in place.

Thank you for the welcome @Changing Skies. :D

Not a bad start to the day but it soon turned into a damp drizzly afternoon and it certainly felt raw.

more rain looking likely tomorrow and the lucky few may see their first bit of sleety stuff before a cold, bright, wintry feeling weekend.

It will certainly be a shock to the system after such a lengthy warm period though so I better dig out the gloves and hat for Saturday's match.

I'm sure u'll get your usual 3 feet of snow Will. I'd be happy with 2 inches of snow for at least 1 day as i'm sure other snow starved members would. Enjoy!

Absolutely! Even 2 cm for 6 hours would do me, which would be the record for the last three years.

Poor day with plenty of heavy showers up here and feeling cold and raw.

current temperature of 5c here and slowly falling so maybe a small chance of something wintry in any showers that fall overnight but I'm not holding out much hope.

Haven't even got the hail here, at least that would be something.  6.6°C.
