Haha! I have been taught to drive by mum and also a bit of looking online etc and from dad.

I have learnt in mum's volvo v50 1.6 estate so not an easy car to learn in, especially getting the "tank" round tight roundabouts.

I've had my first few near misses (not my fault) a police car not on call over taking a bike on a blind bend forcing me to slam on the breaks and swerve towards the left. A bike pulled out on me and didn't even stop and I was doing about 30mph

The best one was someone jumping lights, I've always been taught never trust the lights always look before making the full manvoure. That tested the reaction times a bit.

Mum said to me "imagine everyone on the road can't drive and you don't know what they will do next"

I also got my old job back this afternoon so it's back out into the great outdoors as a gardener!

Back to weather, and so far what a year now it looks like we cool down and get fairly chilly, no sign of the Atlantic for a long time, the dry theme continues, I wonder how much rainfall overall this year has fallen compared to last.

The longer you work outside Surrey the more you wont want to work inside an office.

You may never earn a fortune working outside compared to inside an office but its far more healthy and toughens you up.

I see looking at the radar that the snow machine has been switched on. Arrrggghh if it was only a few weeks later.

Right on que. It's Saturday - it's the weekend and it's pi**ing down in Herts.

Dry all week while stuck in the office! To the people who don't work or don't like to take part in outdoor activities then I'm sure this doesn't bother you, but for me it's extremely frustrating!

Always seems to rain on a Saturday!

The miserable weather continues here and it looks like spoiling Saturday, feeling chilly and very gloomy out. Wonder when this pattern will change?

Walking back from the pub last night and it was absolutely hammering down - didn't expect that. Walked through the door dripping wet. Warmed up in front of the fire.

After being able to dodge getting splashed at swimming last night, it decided to tip it down when we were heading to the car. Thankfully pizza already on order so no stopping in the rain.

Well i'm happy to report now the crew have gone out shopping leaving me to sort out the room for our impending sky upgrade this week that it's raining again.

innit.

Having a day of showers here, wish it was a bit later in the year. I expect this won't happen when we want it too.

Some very potent showers in the SE today. One in particular down near Dover showing rain rates that wouldn't disgrace a Summer storm!

One of the Beeb's weekly outlooks did in fact talk of possible hail & thunder, for eastern counties, today...

Probably will not see them again during the winter.

I much brighter start to the day, there is greater instability today which will mean more of a sunshine and heavy showers sort of day as opposed to a lot of flat stratus and a few light showers. Tomorrow the showers look potentially to be quite potent with hail and thunder.

Had quite a nice day here today, mostly sunny, but with nice convective looking cloud scapes about. I expect there were some heavy showers about not to far away.

Today has been better with some decent sunny spells even if it did feel quite chilly.

4 showers here, first two were heavy and the last two were hardly noticeable as the sun shined through them from the edge of the clouds. Generally a lovely day in the sun with the rain adding a nice autumnal touch this morning

The view looking east today is stuning, but unfortunately means we are due a soaking once it moves this way. For now it's sunny and still.
